comingoutjournal: Amanda & Karen When I met Karen through mutual friends in 2003, I was living in New York; she was in Oregon. At the time, I was married (to a man) and had never thought of myself as gay. But as our friendship, conducted over email and by phone, grew and deepened, I realized I was falling in love with her. It took time to work things out, but we both knew we wanted to be together. It’s been 7 years now; we’re legally married (in Canada) and have the support of our wonderful friends and family. I love her more every day.
